Enabling Incognito Mode is an unusual thing. Do you know what incognito mode is in Google Chrome? let’s see in the following article.

Smartphones have become someone’s life partner who is so close but also a nightmare of privacy if you can’t take care of it. If you don’t take the proper precautions, you could actually expose yourself to friends or family members without you knowing it by taking your device.

Fortunately, cell phone makers offer many ways to protect yourself, such as by activating a very mysterious incognito mode when you are surfing the internet. In addition, there is a screen lock. You can choose what suits you, be it PIN, password, pattern, or face.

A screen lock provides the first layer of defense and should be (almost) everything you need to protect your privacy data. However, there are also some people who may be able to bypass this screen lock. Then it’s time to enter the second line of defense that you must do to really protect your privacy data. One of them is incognito mode on Google Chrome or private browsing.

What Is Incognito Mode?

The word disguise means to hide one’s true identity. Including when you use it on Android, it’s a way to hide while you surf the web from your real identity. Incognito mode like on Android’s Google Chrome basically hides your browsing history so that other people can’t see the websites you visit. As a result, it can mask your history on the entire web.

Incognito mode is available in the Chrome browser app, both on Android phones and tablets, as well as the Chrome desktop browser for Mac, Windows, and of course Chrome OS as one of its best owners.

  • On your Android device, open Chrome and tap the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner next to the address bar.
  • Then a drop-down window will appear with a number of available actions, such as a favorite page or opening a new window.
  • Another option that you can choose is the “New incognito tab”.
  • Please choose, and the Chrome browser will open a new private tab with a dark appearance. Next, you will see a little spy icon with a fedora and glasses indicating that “you have disguised yourself”.

Then you can switch between incognito tabs and regular tabs by tapping the tab on the address bar. You will only browse privately when you are on that incognito tab without having a history like you do regular browsing.

Do you know what private browsing means?

Incognito mode, or browsing in private, is device-specific protection for your privacy data. If you use incognito mode on one device but not on another, your browser history will still be saved when you don’t use that mode on a second device.

At its simplest, incognito mode prevents others who have stolen the device from viewing your browsing history. In this mode, Chrome itself doesn’t save your browser history, or any data you type into web forms. Google Chrome will not sync your private browsing history across your accounts.

The Chrome browser will indeed remember cookies, site data, and the permissions you give when you browse. However, the information will be deleted automatically once you close the incognito tab without the need to manually delete the history.
